Roots, Ginger Detail
This design is minimalist and sophisticated, with little slices of precious vintage fabrics. It’s produced with a strip-piecing technique and many pages of complicated cutting instructions. Most quilt makers would make sure the grain of the background fabric ran in the same direction on every piece, but we like the subtle color shifts created by using scraps without regard to grain direction. In other words, we cut in the tradition of thrifty quilters of days gone by when fabric was a precious commodity. We have both horizontal (ginger) and vertical (golden) versions to choose from.
