Mental Blocks, Red Detail
This is another of Denyse’s very first quilt designs. Squares and rectangles seem to float on a background that is anything but solid. This quilt is created without a pattern, so each block is cut and stitched together from the center out. This intuitive process—called improvisational piecing—is more like making a collage or painting than a traditional quilt top. We show it in two colors here.
