Denyse had long had a desire to reinterpret the motifs of traditional hand-appliqué quilts. The form allows for a more illustrative approach to designing the quilt top, and her first appliqué series explores spare, stylized floral motifs. Vine is a single stem that grows the length of the quilt, with subtle fabric variations in the flowers that bloom along the sinewy line.
