Theme & Variation to the Letter 2019
Theme & Variation to the Letter 2019, "Nathan" quilt by Hillary Goodwin

Theme & Variation to the Letter with Denyse and Richard
When I first saw the "Nathan" quilt made by Hillary Goodwin for her son (find her on Instagram @entropyalwayswins), I shared her images to my Theme & Variation students as it beautifully embodies the process and thinking I teach. Improvising around a set theme/block pattern/tune frees you to explore endless creative variations, building an understanding of color, form, and composition along the way.

With Hillary's kind permission, this new Improvisational Patchwork workshop explores the tenets of theme and variation using letterforms as our foundation. Using my Proverbial Quilt pattern letter drawings as a guide, you'll create your own personalized baby or wall-sized quilt top!

Whether you are an experienced quilter or a beginning crafter, you will create exciting, rut-breaking work that will change the way you think about color, patchwork, and your own creativity.

$350 includes tuition, lunch, and goodie bag.

This is a one-day workshop. Class size is limited to 10 so register early! You will take home a complete quilt top, or most of the blocks for a baby/wall size quilt.

If the workshop is full, the date will not appear in the drop down menu below. Email us to be added to the wait list for any date.

Saturday April 27, 2019, 10am to 4pm
