Come spend an inspiring week exploring intuitive motif creation and learning needle turn appliqué with Denyse in beautiful Madeline Island!
We begin with an immersion into the wide range of individual expression in decorative and functional art/craft, and sample intuitive drawing practices to create unique appliqué motifs for a small quilt top or panel. This class combines Denyse's extensive experience guiding students through the principles of improvisation including theme and variation, repetition, and back stories, with traditional hand-appliqué.
Not a hand-stitcher? Not to worry! This class is about personal expression—and like all folk art—celebrating your unique "hand", wherever you are on the experience or skill scale.
Denyse will share her techniques and tips for hand appliqué and guide you through elements of design and composition to create an effective overall design. The best part is we’ll have lots of contemplative and companionable time to talk, sew, and create together.
