Hope Valley

Hope Valley

FreeSpirit Fabrics 2009

I was designing Hope Valley  in 2008, the year of Barack Obama's election, when many of us were feeling hopeful. The prints are drawn from depression era feed-sacks, and the warm and earthy hues take their cue from a vintage postcard of a country landscape (doctored with it's new imaginary location).

Hope Valley remains one of my favorite collections, and coincided with the publication of four DSQ quilt patterns featuring Hope Valley – Hills 'n' Hollers, Cog + Wheel, The Proverbial Quilt and  Stacking the Odds.

I love this image a fan shared – a hard-working waitress wearing a dress made from Hope Valley – perfect!
