The heart of any sew along is always about the community – sharing what we are making and learning, and encouraging each other in our creative pursuits. But we also like to add fun incentives to help motivate you to reach the weekly goals!
To that end, we have an amazing line-up of sponsors – some of my favorite suppliers whose products I love and use (and I know you will too). Be sure to visit them and try out their goods if you haven't!
Just for signing up and posting our special Wagon Wheel sew along "IN!" graphics, you're eligible to win our incredible pre-sal prize from Windham Fabrics – a Ruby + Bee Swatch set - 70 cloth swatches of every color offered in the Ruby + Bee solids collection! I've been coordinating my print collections with Ruby + Bee solids, and the swatch set is an incredibly helpful tool for planning your quilts and ordering fabrics online. You'll get the swatch set AND a fat quarter bundle of my Bonny fabrics! Thank you Windham!
While we haven't yet allocated the time frame for the rest of our prizes, I want to share our sponsors and what they have generously donated.
Oliso Irons
Our good friends at Oliso are donating a pair of their fabulous irons! Oliso produces cutting-edge fabric tools tailored to the needs of quilters and sewists, making ironing easier and empowering your creative endeavors. I am lucky enough to use an Oliso Smart Iron and it is the BEST! Oliso is contributing an M3Pro Project Iron, and a TG 1600 iTouch Smart Iron! Woot!
QuiltFolk
I am a huge fan of QuiltFolk magazine! Quiltfolk travels state by state with a team of writers and photojournalists to uncover spectacular stories of quilters, shop owners, collectors, and everyday quilters. Every issue is a new adventure, and provides inspiration through the exploration of the lives, work, history, and stories of our fellow quilters. Quiltfolk knows that once we understand who these quilters are, and where they come from, we can begin to discover new places of inspiration within ourselves. Bonus– each issue of Quiltfolk (160+ pages) is completely free of advertisements! QuiltFolk is generously donating two issues each week of our sew along – the current Oklahoma issue and the Connecticut issue (with yours truly!). They are also contributing an annual subscription AND a copy of their incredible 260 page coffee table book, QuiltFolk Life. Wowza.
Soak
Soak is modern care for the laundry (and quilts!) you love. Soak Laundry Soap is eco-friendly, deliciously scented (or fragrance free!) and no-rinse—the perfect way to take care of your quilts and other delicate washables. Keep them clean, soft, and in great shape for as long as possible. I happened to have provided artwork (from my Ansonia fabric collection) for the Scentless bottles, so these products are extra special to me!
Flatter by Soak is a starch-free ironing and smoothing spray that relaxes wrinkles and freshens fabrics. Ideal for pressing seams ultra-flat and getting the factory creases out of fabric, Flatter is your pressing BFF for creating your quilt masterpiece! The mild formulation is easy on sensitive skin, and won’t harm the environment. It’s flat out fabulous!
Pressing tip from Soak: No need to get up from your sewing machine to press after stitching each seam: with Flatter, just spray and finger-press seams flat as you go. And don’t forget to give your blocks an overall press at the end (with Flatter of course!).
New from Soak is their Sew Fine Thread Gloss (SFTG) – a natural beeswax product that detangles threads and reduces drag so they glide smoothly through any fabric.
Soak Wash is generously donating one of our weekly prizes with a full-size Flatter Scentless and Scentless Soakwash, plus Flatter Yuzu, and two SFTG! As it that weren't enough, they are contributing a Family Set Scentless, Flatter Wild Mint, Flatter Lacey, and two SFTG toward our grand prize pool. THANK YOU, Soak!
Fabric Spark
Fabric Spark is a vibrant quilt ship in Toronto, Canada. I'm very happy to have a sponsor – and vendor – for my Canadian fans to be able to more easily order templates and patterns. They are all set up to take your orders! If you live in Toronto, Fabric Spark holds regular workshops featuring my patterns (and lots of other fun classes and events) – pay them a visit! They are donating a $50 gift certificate for their shop, and ship everywhere!
Feral Notions
I am a woman full of contradictions, one being a love of things simple, spare and utilitarian, while also LOVING sparkly, shiny things! In the hands of Feral Notions, notions are anything but square! Feral Notions is contributing a set of their iridescent square rulers, which includes a classic 4.5 inch ruler, plus a mini pack of 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 inch squares; AND their Flower Thread Cutter to speed up your chain piecing! Add an old rotary blade to the center of the flower and start separating your chains quickly. And doesn't it look nice sitting next to your sewing machine? Thank you Caitlin!
XLN Fabrics
Our friends at XLN are generously donating two fab fat quarter bundles, by talented Windham Fabric designers! A 20 piece bundle of Celeste by Sally Kelly (below left), and an 18 piece bundle of Colorwash by Carrie Bloomston (below right). Thanks so much XLN!
And last but certainly not least – prizes from my myself and my co-pilots for our Wagon Wheel Sew Along! I think we can all agree we've got quite the pot of goodies to bestow!
Sewtopia
Sewtopia is donating a MOTHERLODE of fabric! First, a Ruby + Bee fat quarter box! WHAT?! 70 luscious solid colors to play with, mix and match, or just adore. ALSO! Fat quarter bundles of my New Bedford and Eastham fabrics! Two of most favorite collections ever, both designed for FreeSpirit. Thank you Amy!!
The Next Stitch
Wendy is donating Garden Party, a 24-piece quilting cotton fat quarter bundle from LIberty Fabric that is SO PRETTY! OMG!
