Glass House Quilt
Renowned architect Phillip Johnson's famous Glass House was his home and is now a National Trust Historic Site, located in New Canaan CT. In 2008 I was invited to participate in their Glass House Commissions program. Artists and designers were asked to create limited-edition works inspired by a visit to the site, and the sale of the work helped support the Trust's mission of preserving modern architecture, landscape, and art.
The spare refinement and restraint of the house and grounds inspired my quilt. The subtle layering of details, color, and the transparency and reflection between the architecture and the landscape are beautiful. The design selected by the commission is a layered, single stripe. These designs can be made in any color palette or fabrics. Images 7-9 show custom versions of these designs. Learn more about the made to order process, and find the details including pricing here.
