One Big Square
Designed in 2008 for an exhibition at Moss design gallery in Santa Fe NM, One Big Square embodies my interest in the juxtaposition of contrasts. In this case, an over-scale and intensely-pieced improvisational log-cabin block, anchored on the edge of a spare background softened with textural hand-quilting. The off-set block falls partly on the top of the bed, partly on the side. In the saturated hues of vintage and new accent fabrics, One Big Square is perfectly balanced against a calm ground.
